Itunes!

Today a girl came in with her new Christmas Gift! I guess Santa Came in early for her ( Makes sense, considering Canada is closer to the North Pole)

She had an Ipod touch and was wondering how to use it and add songs in Itunes and such, so I help her figure it out, purchase songs on Itunes and Load them to her new Ipod... I also assisted her setting up her Ipod so it will not SYNC automatically ( I had an ipod that erased ALL my songs when I plug it to a different computer because of this!).

She went on Happy listening to AKON and Snoop Dog! ha ha...

Yet another way of using the CAP computers! Load your songs LOL!

Merry Christmas!

CAP Computer Relocated

CAP 01 is now set and ready to go in Boardroom #1 at the E-centre! this will allow mothers that come with their children to the family resource centre to use a computer for their homework, build resumes, flyer's and even design web pages in FrontPage!

I am in the process on installing a wireless card in CAP 01 so it will have Internet Capabilities, as I believe the wireless router will be able to share signal there. Unfortunately I cannot plug a LAN/Ethernet Cable in it because the Boardroom does not have this capabilities, but no biggie, once the wireless card will be set up, CAP 01 will be online!

CAP 02 is now in the Rotunda, this computer has printer and photo/scanner capabilities that allow users to print and upload documents!

Merry Christmas!

A New CAP SITE?

Not Really! But it has a different look. The E-Centre main Cap computer ( CAP 01) is moving to a different room, SO I have hooked up CAP 03, it has a much better processor ( Intel Core Duo 2) that allows user to speed up their open applications. It also has 500 MB Ram which also helps releasing Cache (virtual) memory so speeds up things, specially if you are using the Internet.

Its not top of the art machine, so please don't make yourself false expectations! but I promise you its a much faster computer and it will hopefully help you better. So come and check it out.

The Printer AND the Scanner ( with Photo capabilities) will be installed Monday.

Today I had someone complaint about the photocopier, so I went and check it out, guess what? it had like 4 pages stuck in it! no wonder why it wasn't working LOL... so now its fixed! so that's a good thing.

If you are looking into finding Jobs and want to become more competitive, you should really look up Career cruising http://www.careercruising.com/ it is a very complete website. You can find out your skills, polish your resume and learn what your knowledge, abilities and skills are. This is specifically cool because you will be able to see which careers you should be applying for.

Anyways! you should check it out... call me 773-4030 at the E-centre and I can help you set up an account, you will need a Password and Username... and Industry Canada CAP program can provide that for you.... so its FREE!!!!!!!!!! Don't you like free stuff?

Alright... too much Blogging.... I am going home! Have a good weekend !

The wind Chill is over!

The Windchill is moving out of the South West and I already see the effects on the E-centre as more people came in and used the CAP computers! I even told a girl about starting her own blog, after I told her to join ours! So it was a good Afternoon.

The CAP computer over the Family Resource Centre directed to single women may have to wait a day or so, as I found out the plug I originally wanted to plug the computer isn't working, so I need to wait until it gets checked out!

There were a few lights I needed to change at the E-centre/ Cap site today, so that's taken care off. I am hoping to advertise a bit more our CAP site so I am looking into printing some posters to put around to get more people to come and use the site.

Stay warm !

Its Monday!

Mondays can be hard for everyone, for instance someone may wake up in the morning thinking " I have an Idea, but don't know how to go around it" ( it can happen)... if that's the case, you should come to the E-centre! we have CAP computers that will let you do your research! And we can assist with Business Plan development and help you figure out the "how" you wake up thinking about!

If you think you cant come here because of Kids... you may just need to come to the Family Resource Centre and Day care ( at the E-Centre) during the morning and use a CAP computer that will be specifically located close by your children where you can do your research, surf the Internet or do your homework! ( We have several moms going to school that bring their children here!). I am hopping the Computer will be set up tomorrow!!! and I will be posting and update on this tomorrow as well.

Have a good week and try to keep warm!

Creativity Brings progress

When people are Creative, most of the times that brings progress. Think about the Cell phone for instance, those big "brick" looking artifacts are now much more slim and can do a lot more than just talk, they now come with Internet. Who would have though?... Well I am almost sure that Motorola, namely Dr. Martin Cooper ( who developed the Cell phone) was oncee believed to be crazy for thinking his product would hit all corners of the earth... now we cant live without it.... that's Creativity not Innovation, Innovation comes after being creative.

So here is my point, the more I look into 2010, the more I think about all the changes that will occur, because change is inevitable! in fact every second of your life 3000 cells die and are being replaced by new ones ( 15000 cells just born while I was typing this) did you knew that?. If You cannot avoid change, why then not be part of change? Put those thoughts into action! That's my goal as a CAP-Youth today, to SHARE creativity with whoever comes to the CAP Site this Friday.

Enjoy your weekend!

Room to Grow!

As I was working on my goals for next year, I realized the privilege of being able to help the community and the personal satisfaction to see people thank you just for being available... and not charge them!.

The E-centre has always been diligent in providing the community with technology and facilitate for everyone interested in growing as a business or person the opportunity to realize their potential.

Sometimes fear for the "unknown" prohibit us from change, from learning, from reaching goals and until people don't realize that is never too late to learn and improve, that fear will always be the obstacle to reaching great things in life. This couple of days, as I was serving the community, helping them using the computers, providing advise for technological and business issues and so on, I realized the necessity of the CAP program and more important what our positive attitude towards service can mean for the commuters.

I encourage everyone to not give up on helping others, even if they don't show up your training sessions ha ha!... sooner or later that fear for the un-expected gets breached, when folks like us in the CAP-YI program remain consistent.

Cheers!

Slow Cold Day

What seemed like a busy end of the day last Friday seemed to has cooled off by Monday. On Friday there where 4 people that came at once in the last hour to find out about how to start their home based business! and it took time and patience by each of them to wait for their turn to be helped, with that said, the day went by really fast.

Everything seems to go slower when days are colder, that seemed to be the norm here at the E-Centre today Monday December 7th,2009. Not a lot of CAP users came by today, perhaps because its minus 25 outside, yet that allowed me to catch on other office duties as well as try to speed up one of the CAP computers, who seemed to be very slow lately, making the experience of the CAP user not as pleasant ( I don't think it is the cold in this case). I cleaned up a lot of tasks going "underground" and the PC seems to be going a bit faster now.

So I am looking forward for tomorrow, there is always stuff going on around the E-centre, Art Studios, guitar classes etc... so come by when you want.

Hello and Welcome

Thank you for Joining the Swift Current Entrepreneurial Centre !

Here you will be able to find out about some of the Initiatives the Centre has to offer as a Community Access Program site, sponsored by Industry Canada.

There is going to be a session of how to use Facebook coming up December 3rd at 3pm. Come and join us!

Also last Saturday Nov 28Th, we held a Round Table discussion by the Saskatchewan Capacity of Internationally-trained professionals that turned out to be pretty good. A notion to make a group in the city of Swift Current was started, in order to assist new comers with a professional degree from a country other than Canada. We will be following up for this first meeting.

Feel free to share with us how can we help!
